Protect Husson

Masking Update

August 4, 2021 - As reported by the CDC, Penobscot County, our county, has been designated as having high COVID-19 community transmission. Therefore, in accordance with CDC guidelines, everyone attending indoor public gatherings on campus – whether vaccinated or unvaccinated – must wear a mask. Thank you for your efforts to keep our campus community safe.

Together, we have transformed our campus to Protect Husson

During this past year, the health and safety of our Husson community has been a top priority. Our students have had a 99.5% compliance rate for getting tested for COVID-19. Out of 19,407 tests administered to students since August 26, 2020, only 137 came back positive. Also, out of 2,304 tests administered to employees since August 26, 2020, only 17 came back positive. We are proud of all that the campus community – from students to staff to faculty – to make sure our campus was a safe and healthy learning and living environment.

Fall 2021

Husson University will continue to offer face-to-face classes and we hope to reinstate many of our pre-pandemic campus experiences, provided the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates it’s safe.

This fall we expect that students will be able to

  • resume living in our residence halls at more normal capacity
  • participate in athletic and intramural competition
  • participate in series of robust Student Life activities

COVID-19 Vaccination

With distribution of COVID-19 vaccines now underway nationally, the CDC is strongly recommending that every eligible person get vaccinated as soon as possible. Vaccinations are proving to be the best way to ensure that everyone avoids the serious health complications associated with the coronavirus. To protect the safety of our campus, Husson has decided to require COVID-19 vaccinations for all students returning to campus this fall. The University shares this information with you now so you can make plans to get inoculated over the summer, if you have not already been vaccinated.

If you’ve already been fully inoculated against COVID-19, please upload a copy of your vaccination record to the student portal using the “Upload Immunization” link. This documentation shows where and when you received your vaccination(s).

Once uploaded, your documentation will be sent to the Wellness Center. If you prefer, you can also mail a copy of your vaccination record to our Wellness Center.

Any online students who won’t have physical contact with our campus community will not be required to submit their vaccination records. If you have any further questions, please contact the COVID-19 Information Line at 207.992.1919.

Our goal is to have a fully vaccinated campus when we begin the Fall 2021 semester.

Please check this page often. As we move forward, we will provide you with as much timely information as possible. To ensure that your family receives important notifications regarding COVID-19, please sign up for the Husson Family Newsletter.
